Gentle Movement and Yoga Nidra for Veterans

A private class at Ananda Studio in Lander catered specifically to the needs of veterans, from all wars and operations, at home and abroad.

Each class will begin with gentle movement to stretch and open up especially the chest. You will then set up in a comfortable, supported position while being guided through Yoga Nidra Meditation. All work will be done in a seated position or lying down.

Yoga Nidra is a meditative and deeply relaxing internal scanning tool. It can help you navigate your path to healing and increase coping skills. It can aid with alleviating pain, promote better sleep, reduce anxiety and tension, regulate the stress response in mind and body, and promote self-care through self-understanding.

Led by Meghan Lucas, a Navy veteran who began using yoga and yoga nidra as methods of healing after being medically discharged in 2009. The relief was so powerful she committed to learning how to share these practices with others, and now owns Ananda yoga studio in Lander. You can find more about her training and experience at anandayogacenterlander.com.

This is a free event for veterans only. All you need to do is show up in comfortable clothes, and feel free to bring a bottle of water.

Please reach out to Meghan Lucas at anandayogacenterlander@gmail.com with any questions.

Lakshmi and the Churning of the Ocean

  • Ananda Health and Wellness Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

What if we didn’t shy away from the parts of ourselves we think are bad, or that we don’t know what to do with? When we fragment ourselves and hide specific pieces we hinder our own potential: to refine our mind, to live the life we believe in, to strengthen and share our gifts and talents.

This myth exemplifies the need to re-member all of ourselves and maintain a consistent practice of exploration, responsibility, and honesty to be able to live our fullest life. It reminds us there is no evil inside, only undirected energy. It shows us the path towards courage and acceptance for all that life will inevitably bring.

This workshop includes an hour of story-telling and discussion, followed by a two-hour slowly paced asana class intended to help you find a meditative flow through breath, movement, and especially stillness.

Early bird pricing is $30. Early bird pricing lasts through October 5, 2018. Afterwards and day of the event the cost is $40.

Three in-person CECs are available for Yoga Alliance. Let Meghan know before the training if interested.

Chanting of the Gayatri: Transition into Autumn

At the juncture of dawn, watch the light of the rising sun illuminate the darkness of the world around us as we chant 108 rounds of the Gayatri mantra together, then sit for a short meditation. The mantra is a call for the light of knowledge and awareness, meant to be done at these times of literal and metaphorical shift. As night transitions to day, summer to fall, come with any intention of internal transition and let your voice be the offering to bring it to life.
